REVIEWER FOR
Project Coordinator: research project entitled "German Legal Traditions on Trial"
funded by the VolkwagenStiftung, 2015-2017. The aim is to document past and present politicized/civic cause lawyering in Germany locating its current expressions in a broader legal landscape based on literature, surveys, expert and autobiographic narrative interviews. The court case against the National Socialist Underground - a Neo-Nazi organization whose some members murdered naturalized small businessmen of mostly Turkish and Greek origin over a number of years without being detected either by the police or by the intelligence forces - will serve as a prism through which to see state-loyal and state-critical roles played by the state prosecutor, the judge, the defense and the victims lawyers [Nebenklage]. Of interest is too whether this court case will be treated by the German state as an opportunity to position itself towards such transnational trends as migration/migrants and extreme rightwing terrorism. It will be compared in this and other respects to other famous court cases - in Germany and abroad. Please see also: http://www.uni-leipzig.de/~cas/research/german-legal-traditions-on-trial/
Literature review on memorials and memorial sites including a report on 'Local Community Reponses to Commemoration Sites in the Aftermath of a Terror Attack"(project 601501) for the Norwegian Centre for Violence and Traumatic Stress Studies [NKVTS], 2014-2015.
